How to Improve your IELTS Score

So you plan to do the IELTS test and want to increase your score? Here are my tips based on my lots of year of training IELTS for students in different countries. They are offered in no picky order.

Prepare, prepare, prepare.... Yes, I know it sounds obvious, but I have known many "safer" candidates to the test a little preparation or not. One candidate told me that they had lived and studied in the United States for over 4 years and well maintained the level of English as a native speaker. He waited a score of at least 8.0 - unfortunately it was 6.5 because he did not understand how to improve score. The test preparation courses prepare you for the test, and you can get a score based on the actual level of English. Find a reputable school or online courses.

Increase your Speed of Reading

Speed! One analysis is that the IELTS test asks examiners to complete too a lot in too small time. Many candidates find that they do not have sufficient time, mostly in reading and writing sections. So what can you do?

Begin by doing a search on the speed reading method to the Internet - there are a lot of excellent sites for some guidelines. When you are sure that you have learned the techniques of reading newspapers and IELTS practice time for yourself. Is it too long? If so, why? Maybe vocabulary has improved or maybe you need more practice techniques of speed reading. In general, try to read as much as possible in the period leading up to your own test.

Accelerate your writing can be just as difficult, especially when you come up with your own ideas when trying to answer the question. You can speed up your writing practice writing sections of the book and the time for you - make sure you do not over tighten the pen, but use a relaxed grip, with one fluid motion.

Improve Listening through Practice

Listen to English as a lot as feasible, so that the ear is listening to the language. Listen to the radio or turn off the DVD English subtitles of the film. Try to England in the evening with friends and to practice listening and speaking - a group, I recognized that I used to be a small fine person for non-English word for the evening, and they gave the money to charity on a weekly basis.

Be sure to read the candidates research instructions. Many students facing hardship they just to dive the Listening section without following instruction. It may contain important information that is needed to answer the questions correctly. For example, listening to the test instructions may contain information about where the "conversation" takes place. You may think you're saving time by skipping the instructions, but it can cost you in the long run.

As opposed to reading and writing, listening and part of the test, you have no control over the time. If you find that the other candidates are writing and you are not as you may very well be lost - do not panic - listen to the voices of the other candidates to move to the next page and do the same thing. You may very well find that you can get on the right track by simply following what other candidates do...

Don't leave blanks

In both cases the reading and listening, you are required to answer different types of questions such as multiple choice, gap fills, short answer, and so on. Either time is short or you do not have a clue then guess the answer. When guessing use logic to try to find the answer and make sure you define the style of the correct answer. You do not lose marks for wrong answer and you might get lucky and win some extra points.

Speaking Test Strategy

It may not seem, but it is only part of the test that you have control over. Be in control, you must be ready to talk, and be positive. As with any interview, the first impression - if you ask questions to give more than a simple "yes" or "no." Be helpful and willing to answer questions. In general, you should talk to 70-80% of the time. Show the examiner that you are fluent and have good grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Be careful with your body language - your body can not take your own life, when you're stressed. Sit good posture and keep your hands in knees in the "formal style." Be aware that the researcher has the same cultural background as you are so controlled body movements is usually the best strategy.

Most interviews language test you will be asked to present - be careful not to become a robot: my-name-is Julia and I-graduated-ABC-university ... try to be natural and friendly person who is keen to talk and have exciting things to say. To learn how to introduce you have given two minutes to write on paper. Include information that you think is interesting and perhaps a little different than the other candidates. Then go out and practice in the first place with those who you know, and then for those people you do not know - it is the content interesting? Does this sound natural when you speak? And so on. How do people react when they hear it? Adjust the content if necessary.

Many candidates found use of article for one of the most difficult tasks in English. There are two kinds of articles in English, and the definite article can be singular or plural. Stay updated on the news. Make sure you read the newspaper every day, because the IELTS writing tasks based on points of general interest. In theory, no special knowledge is required to answer questions, but it is always useful to have information on matters of concern to the Anglo-Saxon countries.
